There is a big denial by the Trump administration, with the support of the oil and coal industry, on the climate change. This is why Trump withdrew from the Paris accord justifying the act that there is not enough scientific support for this hoax claim that one day will lead us to the doom’s day. He also insists that this imposed environmental limitation on the usage of oil and coal has only a negative impact on the industrial sector and the overall US economy. Therefore, he decided to give the coal (the worst kind of fuel) a new name clean coal.
We are yet to see where are these scientists that the president rely on for all of these drastic counter measures that his administration took on his arrival to the white house. The majority of the scientific community do not disagree on the environment disaster that is imminent and clearly visible on the horizon but rather when it will happen. Most of them agree that if there are no immediate drastic measure to be taken, even harsher from the Paris accord, this century will not end well.
With all of our scientific knowledge our scientist are not capable of convincing the president that our planet, including the United States of America of course that will also pay the price, is in danger. Shall we wait for a future evidence or better go back in time to the year 1912 where a New Zealand Newspapers; the Rodney and Otamatea Times, Waitemata and Kaipara Gazette published an accurate scientific prediction that earth will suffer the consequences of burning too much fossil fuel and coal in about a century. They were just right this is actually our present state of environment.
As we are still debating now with the president scientists on the existence of this environmental disaster, 106 years ago this brief warned us that ramping production and our excessive usage of fossil fuels and coal is changing the Earth’s atmosphere.
The content of the brief is as follow:
“The furnaces of the world are now burning about 2,000,000,000 tons of coal a year. When this is burned, uniting with oxygen, it adds about 7,000,000,000 tons of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere yearly.”
“This tends to make the air a more effective blanket for the earth and to raise its temperature. The effect may be considerable in a few centuries.”
This same article could be traced back to the Popular Mechanics early in the same year of 1912. The New York Times take this scientific discussion of the coal’s effect on the atmosphere even further in time bringing it back to the 1850s.
The new scientific number on burning on fossil oil and coal is staggering if we only take an example the CO2 statistics:
“The Earth’s atmosphere now holds an unprecedented amount of CO2: the concentration has risen above 411 parts per million, the highest level in 800,000 years.”
We could only conclude by saying that the 106 years scientists were smarter from those they are supporting the claim of the president. It is only the tip of the iceberg, that is actually disappearing somewhere in the North and South Poles.
Welcome to the Age of Denial. Welcome to the melting Age of Trump.
